Easy rangoli designs - beginners

30+ rangoli kolam simple designs  Though I have drawn all the designs myself personally I am thankful to my family for the inputs, information and help in drafting all the posts so far.  I have used the terms kolam  rangoli quite freely in all the posts. Probably there would have been differences based on classical (!) explanations in the past but today kolams can also be colourful like rangolis both in the free hand and dots type  I find that even the terms rangoli kolam and kolam rangoli are used at  present. The only area where I think kolam are different are in sikku kolam and arisi maavu kolam. Both are beautiful, challenging and can be intricate. Rama chilaka muggulu Dhanurmasam rangoli

Sankranthi muggulu | Pongal kolam designs
13 to 7 chukkala rangoli.  We can term this as a medium size rangoli based on the size of the dot grid.  Again, medium is a relative term.  I consider up to 15 dots as medium size dot pattern.

Draw the parrots as shown in the images, after we draw the thoran like patterns the balance dots stand out clearly and make it easy for us to connect them to obtain the chilaka rangoli for Dhanurmasam.

Just shading may be sufficient for Dhanurmasam rangoli muggulu, for Bhogi or Pongal we can use colours

The important factor to be considered is drawing the body of the parrots as perfectly as possible by connecting the dots with continuous curved lines. I have tried my best to get near perfect shapes of the birds.

 Two muggulu designs with parrots as theme.  I have added intermediate steps.  Please try for Dhanurmasam , New Year or Sankranthi festival   If you are looking for 15 chukkala muggulu with colours or 15 chukki rangoli the kolam above may be apt.

A follower of Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa told him after darshan that he had developed the ability to walk on water after a lot of practice with rigorous tapsya.  Sri Ramakrishna asked him why he was wasting so much energy when we have a boatman who can take us to the other side for a few paise.

Similarly, for me kolam, devotional songs, books and simple Pooja at home are sufficient for overcoming the stresses of life.  I am not inclined to take any courses, attend classes for removing stress that occurs in our lives.  Kolam alone is a great stress buster for me.  While I practise it daily listening to songs, occasionally I share them as videos too.   The result is there on social media.

Please bookmark it under Dhanurmasam special rangoli.  I think it is quite special when viewed from any parameter.
