Butterfly rangoli designs with colours steps through photos.  Butterfly muggulu with colours was created by me. Initially, I created a peacock kolam with the same dot pattern.  Let me think again, I do not remember which came first the peacock or the butterfly.

Yes, this is different, here "with colours " means directly drawn with rangoli colours.  I wanted to try a different type of kolam art. Kolam tips - to draw directly with colour kola podi, try drawing lines, the texture must be just right and similar to vellai kolamaavu we use.  Otherwise, patterns may not be continuous and as a result the output may not be as attractive as we may expect it to be.

and not filled with colours as we usually understand.  The rangoli colours I have been of excellent quality.  So, it is possible to draw directly with colours. Rangoli tips - when we are successful in drawing directly with colour atta, we do not have to fill colours.  Maybe we can try some motifs, decorations with white atta.

A suitable kolam for New Year, medium sized design that can be filled with beautiful colours.

I have stopped with the white maavu rangoli. Square dot grids are usually popular for Diwali rangoli designs with dots. The difference it lots of geometric patterns are used instead of titli insect.  However, given that they are very colourful and Deepavali rangoli designs with colours are the order of the day, we can draw them and fill them with a myriad of colours.

Marking the edges of the wings on the butterfly wings by connecting the dots makes it easy for us to draw the kolam quickly.  Next the thorax of the butterfly (you guessed it right, I studied Biology!)

Next comes the neck and antennae, these are drawn free hand because they form outside the dot pattern.  If required we can have a suitable dot pattern that can accommodate the head and / or antennae also, that will result in a lot of extra dots, and we will have to convert them into patterns

The few dots at the centre are converted into a design, Some decorations inside the wings are also welcome!

Called pattampoochi in Tamil and sitakoka chiluka in Telugu along with the peacock the most popular for creating beautiful designs in rangoli or muggulu for various festivals and occasions.

The dot pattern is 9 dots 2 rows, then upto 1 - ner pulli.  The images show the step by step procedure.  Butterfly muggulu are very beautiful because we can add bright colours also.

The first few images show how the first butterfly is drawn.  The head, thorax and antennae are drawn first (borrowed from zoology!).

Complete with shading.  I have used white we can use any colour or a combination of colours.  Of course, a small flower at the centre to make the art complete.

You may try these butterfly rangoli kolam for butterfly rangoli Diwali, Dhanteras. Like birds, butterflies are also associated with bright colours. However, there are almost purely white butterflies.  According to search engines, the most common is the cabbage white. It seems it is common in India too, called the Indian cabbage white due to its preference for cabbage family plants!

So far as the colourful butterfly drawn with lines in colour shown in the step-by-step illustrations in the first example is concerned according to Google the closest match with all the colours pink, green, red and orange is one called Painted Beauty.  It goes to prove that whatever we imagine is already available in Nature, somewhere, with our knowledge and without our knowledge.
