30+ rangoli kolam simple designs  Though I have drawn all the designs myself personally I am thankful to my family for the inputs, information and help in drafting all the posts so far.  I have used the terms kolam  rangoli quite freely in all the posts. Probably there would have been differences based on classical (!) explanations in the past but today kolams can also be colourful like rangolis both in the free hand and dots type  I find that even the terms rangoli kolam and kolam rangoli are used at  present. How to decorate Goddess Lakshmi Face My sister bought Her Face from Kolhapur.  I requested her to buy two because there Goddess Laxmi's Face is beautiful and divine. Provisions are available to insert thread to tie the Face to the kalash. Also for Navarathri Goddess decoration Using different types of kundan stones and stone chain I have decorated the crown of Laxmi Devi A beautiful and big red stone adorns the crown above Her Forehead. I have used ear rings made by me, nose ring, mangal sutra and a small necklace using  craft items On the Forehead I have applied the traditional kumkum and kajal for the Eyes A close up view of Goddess Lakshmi .  Divine 🙏🙏

How to do Varalakshmi Amman Alangaram A simple idea.  shown below using craft ideas made at home.   The crown made from old CD and kundan stones.  The necklace has been made from saree lace. First draw a manai kolam on a plank , we can draw a kolam below it also Place a silver or brass vessel and fill with rice or wheat.  We can also spread out some rice below the vessel. Tie a readymade dress available in shops for Goddess Alankara.We can small and beautiful dresses Place a coconut.  This picture is just a demonstration.  When we actually do it smear with turmeric powder paste and apply kumkum. Simple manai kolam designs small n easy

Rangoli for Varamahalakshmi kalasha decoration  Lakshmi Devi in the form of kalasha is welcomed inside the house.  She is placed on a manai on plank.  We draw a rangoli on the plank , a traditional design with lines.  This type of kolam is also drawn for weddings and other auspicious functions Draw straight lines at four corners neli or wriggling lines is an important part of this type of kolam and is drawn on both sides where possible Draw a simple free hand design at the centre after drawing the line patterns on both sides of the plank.  The words "Om Sri" are written at the top of the plank It is a tradition to decorate with kaavi.  We get kaavi or ochre powder.  It is mixed in water to get a thin paste that can be applied as a border for the kolam.  When such kolam are drawn at the entrance of a house it indicates that there is an auspicious function inside the house. Traditional method of tying roses is tricky and needs practice, among most flowers rose petals are the most delicate and hence we have to handle the flowers carefully.   Even while tying it is possible that the petals can get separated. Still rose is one of the most beautiful flowers and many of us cannot resist the temptation of making a rose flower garland. (poo malai) What I have shown is a simple method for making a rose garland .   As usual, since this blog is mainly about traditions, customs and festivals, this decoration can be used for Varalakshmi Vratham or Navratri. We need lace ribbon that has holes as shown in the picture below.   Insert the roses one by one giving enough gap between any two roses.   The roses being inserted.  Even this we have to do carefully to preserve the petals.
