Easy rangoli designs - beginners

Though I have drawn all the designs myself personally I am thankful to my family for the inputs, information and help in drafting all the posts so far.  I have used the terms kolam  rangoli quite freely in all the posts. Probably there would have been differences based on classical (!) explanations in the past but today kolams can also be colourful like rangolis both in the free hand and dots type  I find that even the terms rangoli kolam and kolam rangoli are used at  present. The only area where I think kolam are different are in sikku kolam and arisi maavu kolam. Both are beautiful, challenging and can be intricate . Rangoli is muggulu in Telugu and so this post will be useful for those in search of small and simple muggulu for beginners.  This post   may have answers  kutty rangoli /kolam designs The rangoli in the image below is one of the basic designs that can be used for learning.   Form a star with two inverted triangles.   ...

Those who follow me on social media may have observed that I share more reels than long videos.

I was using the existing longer videos to create reels, shorts and was sharing them.  I still do.

My ardent followers probably noticed and requested for new designs.

Any number of designs that we have is sufficient if we want to draw a new rangoli kolam daily throughout the year.
So, I shot videos of about 10 patterns that I had created (as I stated elsewhere, I try creating new designs in the afternoon, some of them become public as images or videos).

This post and the subsequent one are on the latest rangoli kolam I shared on Facebook.

For those who want to draw with dots, this is a 5 by 5 dot rangoli, we can try freehand too.

There are many posts with intermediate steps.  In this post I have shared only the completed images.

I have given the dot grid I have used also for pulli kolam.  Please try.

Rangoli no.1 and 4 are my favourites.  I like them very much because I think they are different and stand apart among the four pics shared here.

The 5 dots birds kolam is unique according to me among the birds kolangal I have created and shared so far.  The fourth one drawn with parallel and perpendicular lines intersecting appears easy but (near) perfection of the patterns is slightly challenging.

The 2nd and 3rd patterns are simpler and easier too.

Diwali 2025 is round the corner, in a couple of weeks. I get nostalgic memories of the celebrations of 2023 which was the first Diwali for my son after marriage.  We call it Thalai Deepavali in Tamil and is celebrated at the in-law's place.  All of us went to Madanapalli.  The icing on the cake for the celebrations was the famous sweet, putharelakalu.

Since I keep updating my posts based on feedback and my assessment of the content, it is possible that information may repeat though I take utmost care to avoid it.  Please bear with me.

So far as the rangoli tips and tricks are concerned I consciously share in quite a few posts because users may land on some random post, read it and move away. I do not want to miss any opportunity to pass on the tips for drawing this art because this is an ephemeral art, drawn daily.
