Easy rangoli designs - beginners

30+ rangoli kolam simple designs  Though I have drawn all the designs myself personally I am thankful to my family for the inputs, information and help in drafting all the posts so far.  I have used the terms kolam  rangoli quite freely in all the posts. Probably there would have been differences based on classical (!) explanations in the past but today kolams can also be colourful like rangolis both in the free hand and dots type  I find that even the terms rangoli kolam and kolam rangoli are used at  present. The only area where I think kolam are different are in sikku kolam and arisi maavu kolam. Both are beautiful, challenging and can be intricate. Vellikizhamai Pooja arai kolam

There are some traditional kolam designs that are drawn in the Pooja room particularly on Fridays ( Vellikizhamai in Tamil) These designs are considered to represent Goddess Lakshmi and are usually in the shape of a lotus and hence they are not drawn  at the entrance of homes.  However, the regular kolam drawn at the entrance are for welcoming Goddess Lakshmi  One of the many benefits of drawing this simple art is the positive thoughts and positive vibes that emanate when we draw it. Simple rangoli for Puja / Pooja kolam

Golu alankaram or decoration with kolam for Navratri till Dasara or as a Pooja room rangoli These rangoli or kolam are for pooja mantaps or pooja enclosures. The design can be drawn with borders    Modifications to suit individual family customs may be done.   Most of them are simple, free hand, padi kolams or rangoli with dots. .  This belief helps me develop positive thoughts when I draw them and hence I use them invariably in Puja rooms.  Aishwarya kolam, kubera kolam, Hridaya kamala kolam are part of this group of auspicious rangolis.
