Jujube fruit recipes ezhantha pazham

The jujube tree fruit is available in plenty during after January. It can be eaten raw also as we do in most homes.  It is offered as Naivedyam for the festivals that are celebrated in January , February viz Sankranthi and Rathasapthami;  

Let us see how to prepare a simple snack using this fruit.

Wash the fruits and tear the skin to check for any worms that may be inside.

We also need chopped ginger, green chillies, coriander leaves and jaggery.

Add the ingredients except jaggery to a mixer add a little water and wet grind.

Add jaggery to a shallow pan , add little water , heat it so that the jaggery melts

When jaggery melts, add the ground paste and  stir well

After a couple of minutes , add the fruits to the pan

Add salt according to your taste and requirement

Stir well so that the salt is mixed evenly.  Transfer to a bowl .  It can be stored in the refrigerator upto one week.

Since the ingredients are all natural , fruits, ginger , green chillies, coriander and jaggery it may be considered as a healthy evening snack for children and adults alike.  It is one of the most popular snacks in our family during this season.
