Easy rangoli designs - beginners

Though I have drawn all the designs myself personally I am thankful to my family for the inputs, information and help in drafting all the posts so far.  I have used the terms kolam  rangoli quite freely in all the posts. Probably there would have been differences based on classical (!) explanations in the past but today kolams can also be colourful like rangolis both in the free hand and dots type  I find that even the terms rangoli kolam and kolam rangoli are used at  present. The only area where I think kolam are different are in sikku kolam and arisi maavu kolam. Both are beautiful, challenging and can be intricate . Rangoli is muggulu in Telugu and so this post will be useful for those in search of small and simple muggulu for beginners.  This post   may have answers  kutty rangoli /kolam designs The rangoli in the image below is one of the basic designs that can be used for learning.   Form a star with two inverted triangles.   ...

7 to 4 pulli white kolam mayil design

There is an artist hidden in all of us, creating and drawing kolam proves it. It is very easy to represent peacocks through rangoli

The step-by-step images below will show how to draw a white peacock with seven to four odu pulli dot pattern

"Ethnic and homely " " Beautiful rangoli and easy too.  keep up the great work.  All the best and good luck " "Love the patience and time you invest in sharing these lovely pieces of art ".  These are some comments on Facebook

When I get such positive feedback for my rangoli designs, it is natural that I am motivated to create more and more kolangal.

This is the common mango leaf kolam theme that is converted into birds ( peacocks ) by replacing the leaf patterns

with spirals with "feathers" to represent the tail and of course the crown to represent easily a bird so beautiful as the peacock

Apart from kolam ,  I like stringing of flowers (colloquially called tying of flowers).  For Raghavendra Swami we can only offer garlands that are strung by vazhai naaru (as we say in Tamil).  I do not know the correct English translation for this term.  So, I use banana stem fibre.

I am not sure whether we can use the term trunk for banana tree.  So, I requested by viewers on Facebook to suggest a better translation.  Banana pith was a good suggestion I got.  I purchase a lot of flowers at Koyambedu flower market and offer garlands with vazhai naaru to Raghavendra Swami Brindavan nearby.

Coming back to the topic of discussion in this post, as my mother-in-law once said even God loves praise.  Praise Him daily and He will certainly bless you with all His best blessings.  As humans we all love praise, so when I get positive comments, I get motivated.  Having said that I should also add that I am mature enough not to expect only good feedback.
