Easy rangoli designs - beginners

Though I have drawn all the designs myself personally I am thankful to my family for the inputs, information and help in drafting all the posts so far.  I have used the terms kolam  rangoli quite freely in all the posts. Probably there would have been differences based on classical (!) explanations in the past but today kolams can also be colourful like rangolis both in the free hand and dots type  I find that even the terms rangoli kolam and kolam rangoli are used at  present. The only area where I think kolam are different are in sikku kolam and arisi maavu kolam. Both are beautiful, challenging and can be intricate . Deepavali kolam

It is post-Deepavali and I would like to continue to post a few more kolam (or rangoli ) now that the month that is famous for kolam also is a few weeks away - Margazhi . Deepvali is a festival of rangoli designs , Deepavali muggulu with lots of bright colours are in demand during this season.   As has been the theme of Rangolisansdots most of the designs here are also simple and can be easily drawn for this beautiful festival  or any other name for colourful designs with and without dots for celebration of this important festival in a grand manner necessitates inclusion of rangoli / muggu also.    Diwali dots rangoli | Diwali dots kolam | step by step through pictures ( दिवाली रंगोली ) A simple Diwali rangoli with dots / Deepavali kolam with dots Though it is a small design with 5 to 3 dot pattern, I have included a lot of pictures to show the step by step procedure .  It will be useful of beginners who are trying their hand at rangoli for this festival ...
