border muggulu designs with colours

Rangoli borders  may actually resemble jewellery in these parameters - beauty, intricacy.  Which of these two inspires the other

As usual these designs can be drawn for the doorway or door step.  Also we can use them to decorate a bigger rangoli

We draw big rangoli designs for New Year and Sankranti.  It is customary to decorate them with borders at the bottom or at the sides.

We need lots of simple designs for this .  Our imagination to create designs and patterns has no limits

These designs can be bookmarked to try them on various occasions or festivals. Maybe they can kindle our imagination to create new designs side border kolam.

Border kolam designs in this blog will invariably be without dots since the name is Rangoli sans dots!
However, I have shared a few with dots too.

When I started my blog in 2012 the term "rangoli" was not popular on Google search. I used to follow popular bloggers of that time.  Some of them advised in their blog posts not to share all the knowledge for free (one may have in his/her field of expertise). They said, doing so will ensure that a lot of persons will start their own blogs, YouTube channels).  I disagreed with them (mentally). Trivia - my rangoli videos on YouTube become so popular that in 2015 YouTube contacted me and invited me to the inauguration of their first studio in Asia at Mumbai.

The purpose of sharing these ideas on social media is to ensure continuity of this beautiful tradition of Bharath.  If some people want to start video channels and websites on rangoli after watching my videos or seeing images on my blog it will only make me happy because they also will also contribute to the cause of preserving this art.  Also, they may share knowledge in kolam art that I do not possess.

As they say in Tamil, what you have learnt can fit in your palm and what you do not know is the size of the world.  Consequently, I have shared the secret of my rangoli powder preparation - 3 parts of rangoli powder after sieving to remove coarse particles is added to one part of rice flour and mixed thoroughly.  I am happy and pleasantly surprised to see some YouTube and Facebook channels sharing this idea on their videos.
