Easy rangoli designs - beginners

30+ rangoli kolam simple designs  Though I have drawn all the designs myself personally I am thankful to my family for the inputs, information and help in drafting all the posts so far.  I have used the terms kolam  rangoli quite freely in all the posts. Probably there would have been differences based on classical (!) explanations in the past but today kolams can also be colourful like rangolis both in the free hand and dots type  I find that even the terms rangoli kolam and kolam rangoli are used at  present. The only area where I think kolam are different are in sikku kolam and arisi maavu kolam. Both are beautiful, challenging and can be intricate. Rangoli is muggulu in Telugu and so this post will be useful for those in search of small and simple muggulu for beginners.  This post   may have answers  kutty rangoli /kolam designs The rangoli in the image below is one of the basic designs that can be used for learning.   Form a star w...

Rangoli video tip - For a long time, I was using natural light for my rangoli videos. Sunlight in the evening after 4 pm was the best time for shooting videos because optimum amount of light is needed, it should not be too bright or dark.

This restricted by camera placement which resulted in shooting the kolam from one side.  One more issue was gentle breeze that disturbed the rangoli powder while drawing and after completion too, but I liked the natural sunlight and so I persisted for few years.

Later, I started shooting from the front view with artificial light.  Many viewers like this but some of those following from the beginning were sceptical.

So far as music for the videos in concerned Facebook offers a collection of melodious songs that is royalty-free too.

I use only Carnatic music for my Facebook videos particularly in the ragas - Hamsadhwani, Revathi, Kambhoji, Dharmavathi, Yamuna kalyani, Jayantasri to name a few.

The songs include Bo Sambho, Krishna Nee Begane Baro, Marugelara, Jagadhodharana (Please note that my knowledge of Carnatic music is limited to kelvi gnanam - my mother-in-law was a good at Carnatic music, I learnt a lot from her). This music suits my genre.  Followers like it.

This beautiful option is not available on YouTube videos. I gave my feedback and requested the managers at YouTube.  Nowadays Carnatic music is available for short videos
