Easy rangoli designs - beginners

Though I have drawn all the designs myself personally I am thankful to my family for the inputs, information and help in drafting all the posts so far.  I have used the terms kolam  rangoli quite freely in all the posts. Probably there would have been differences based on classical (!) explanations in the past but today kolams can also be colourful like rangolis both in the free hand and dots type  I find that even the terms rangoli kolam and kolam rangoli are used at  present. The only area where I think kolam are different are in sikku kolam and arisi maavu kolam. Both are beautiful, challenging and can be intricate . Rangoli is muggulu in Telugu and so this post will be useful for those in search of small and simple muggulu for beginners.  This post   may have answers  kutty rangoli /kolam designs The rangoli in the image below is one of the basic designs that can be used for learning.   Form a star with two inverted triangles.   ...

kolam without dots bina dot wali rangoli

Free hand rangoli are beautiful in their own way.  We can let our imagination run riot while creating them.  We can finish our daily kolam in a jiffy if we can create this type.

While imagination is the limitation, we should ensure that all the patterns used are in agreement with one another.

The first two images demonstrate how we can create rangoli designs without dots black and white that are innovative and awesome using simple motifs and ideas.

The third muggu is a classical traditional kolam the highlight being the outer twists and twirls.  They look easy but can test us when we try the first time.

The fourth one is small white mor rangoli for Deepavali.  It is drawn without dots, filling with colours is not an option.  I have shared the rangoli muggulu drawn directly with colours or drawing on a white or colourful background with contrasting colours.

The last kolam rangoli later became one of the most popular videos on Facebook.  The use of lamps ensures that it is suitable for Deepavali or Karthikai Deepam festivals decoration.  Like many other examples I have shared the white rangoli we can add colours of the lamps and in the star pattern at the centre using suitable combinations to beautify the design.
