Best rangoli design simple 1 - This was quite a popular design when I first started sharing rangolis on social media.
The secret is that as far as possible all lines both straight and curved should be continuous without breaks. Later I converted it into a peacock rangoli using 9 dots.
I belong to the old style of kolam school - if you read first few posts, you may realise it.
I was and I wanted to share only safed rangoli designs (as vellai kolamaavu kolam are called in Tamil).
When I realised more and more people came to my blog and to watch my videos on YouTube (initially I posted videos only on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram came much later)
I realised that I had to create and share rangoli designs suitable for all types of requirements. It was not about a personal blog anymore.
So, I started drawing colourful designs too and started saving them on a computer. Later, I have attempted to categorise them according to type and festival for which they may be suitable.
The results are there in the hundreds of posts on Rangoli sans dots.

Best rangoli kolam no. 3 - After erasing a colourful rangoli, I store the mixture of various colours separately. The resultant colour is somewhat brown. I used it as the background for the design in the image above. The photo was taken at an odd angle

Best rangoli and easy no. 6 Filling colours in small and intricate patterns should be done carefully so that the colours do not smudge the design. Still, it may happen. So, it is a good practice to draw the outline once again with white rangoli powder for the entire design.

Best rangoli for competition no. 9 - In the image below a circular pattern filled with different hues. Adding colours is a very good exercise for improving concentration. I hope you will agree. Such designs can be used as colouring activity too.

The first rangoli in this collection of pictures was shared as a video in YouTube in 2013 or so. It became a hit considering the fact it was very early days for rangoli videos on social media, we can presume that it was a hit :)
The last pic in this gallery was also shared as a kolam video. The pic referred to here have some common patterns emanating from a spiral. Later I used them to create butterfly and peacock kolam too and both were well received.
