Naga Panchami story

It is said that in the month of Sravana , Panchami day, a farmer accidentally damaged an ant hill with his plough killing the young ones of cobra couple .  The female cobra took revenge on the farmer biting all his family members.  His duaghter who was married off and lived at a different place was performing Naga Panchami Pooja.  The female cobra who went there was pleased with the farmer's daughter and revived all the family members of the farmer.

She also said that who ever performs Naga Panchami Pooja with devotion will have a happy and prosperous life and the welfare of the siblings and children would be ensured.
