Kolam is a simple floor art but some of the designs with dots can be really complicated and challenging.   If we get it right after trying a few times we should be happy that we have achieved.  Some designs may require a lot of practice before we can draw them with confidence without getting stuck !  beautiful Indian tradition in which the intelligence, creative abilities of the individual are brought out through patterns drawn on the floor, daily. 21 to 1 dots elephant rangoli for competition | 21 புள்ளி கோலம் | மார்கழி கோலங்கள் series  One of the most common and popular rangoli with 21 dots ( ner pulli ).  It is drawn in our family for Sankranthi or Pedda Panduga as my mother used to say. This rangoli is beautiful because , not just the elephants are drawn.  The caparison or the decorative cloth placed on the elephant's back and the howdah ( called the ambari in Tamil and also in Telugu ). A canopied seat it is.  Details of the toes , the feet are drawn as if the elephant is walking.  Only one tusk is shown because it is the side view.  The elephants are drawn on all four sides of the dot grid leaving the centre.  Apart from these four dots remain on the four sides before the elephant ( enugu ). In the series of rangolis with dots, the next is 11 dot rangolis.  Of course I have not yet drawn 7 dots rangolis in separate posts, but have drawn them in Rangoli-sans-dots. Also rangoli with 10 dots are due .  However, for whatever reason, or no reason I have decided to draw some rangolis with 11 dots 11 to 6 dots muggulu , simple and easy This can be drawn as a part of a bigger rangoli for Pongal or New Year too.  The pics below show the steps for this rather simple design .  Two photos showing the intermediate steps are however shown for reference .
