Kundala muggulu chukkalu for Sankranthi

Image
We all want to display our rangoli skills particularly during festivals like Sankranti and Dipavali.  Of course many of us prefer easy and simple designs .   Here is one of them. With a 7 by 7 dot grid we can get a Pongal kolam or Sankranti muggulu with dots with a Sankranthi Pot  two sugar cane and the Sun.   All these three symbols represent the harvest festival Pongal.   The sugar cane has been represented in purple , the  kunda is overflowing with sweet Pongal and of  course Sun   who we worship for this festival  all have been shown in a small and compact design.  his festival is also celebrated as Makara Sankranti  Karnataka and Maharastra and other parts of India.  My mother called it the Pedha Pundaga  or big festival in Telugu.   First step for the kundala muggulu with dots - 7*7 dots rangoli   Next step for this kundala muggu chukkalu type One of the many ideas for Pongal kundala mu...

Without chukki rangoli for Sankranti

For those who have read most posts of  my blog  , you would observe some changes.  Rangolisansdots has become a huge collection of different types of rangoli designs.   So I am trying to categorise them into various types to make the blog more user friendly.  The idea is that one should find what he/she is looking for.   I am trying to revamp the blog by putting myself in the mind of the user.  I do not know how many designs are there but when I applied for copyrights for the blog I found that the copies ran into several hundred pages.   The designs are free for those who use them for their personal use. I was reluctant to apply for copyrights .  I was really not happy when I discovered that many YouTube channels and websites started using my designs.  So this long and strenuous exercise , I had to do -  applying to the Registrar of Copyrights.  It was then I discovered that I had shared thousands of designs for ...

Rangoli designs in this collection, were drawn on a kitchen slab! All are spontaneous creations. Later I started recording them in a notebook for reference not for drawing but for sharing on social media. Here is a gallery of simple and small muggulu images. 1)  Beautiful Sankranthi muggu lu design 2) Small Sankranthi rangoli  Rangoli colours _ I get them from Nagpur where my sister lives.  She gets them from Koradi near Nagpur (there is a Goddess Lakshmi temple in Koradi ,  I came to know from her).  Though I have visited Nagpur many times, I have never had the opportunity to have a darshan there.   As the saying goes - to have darshan of God (or Goddess) we need Her/His blessings.  The rangoli colours are sold in several shops there.  There is a huge collection of colours.  The texture is just right that we can draw lines using them.   3) Sankranthi rangoli without dots  Compare the muggulu above and below.  The sec...

This kolam can also be drawn free hand.  I have used 7 into 1 dot pattern to make it little easy.  When we are looking for small and beautiful rangolis for Dhanurmasam or New Year I think such designs fit the bill.  Of course we can add colours instead of shading with white kola podi.   As a plain white rangoli it can be used for our daily purpose kolangal. Five , seven and nine chukki rangoli designs are among the most popular because invariably grid size is directly proportional to time taken and complexity.  Invariably because there are exceptions to the rule and those exceptions are quite a few. 7 to 1 chukkala muggulu variety - step by step images  See how decorations and shading increase by leaps and bounds a simple dot kolam with lines  If you are looking for 7 ner pulli kolam or 7 dots rangoli kolam  this may satisfy your query to Google :)

Drishyam or visuals are the best ways of remembering things.  I observed by mother and elder sisters draw rangoli designs daily and of course for Margazhi , Pongal festivals. For 30 days they made huge rangoli designs both free hand and with colours.  My task was to pick up the boxes with colours and give it to them , occasionally I was given the responsibility of filling colours in one element ! I learnt observing them and then practising lines and patterns on my own on a cement floor.  I have come a long way since then. I have shared the step by step images for just one rangoli in this blog post.  A common pulli kolam drawn in our family for decades particular for Sankranti festival Simple flower patterns and butterflies are matching designs in any rangoli.   It is very easy to represent butterflies and flowers in muggulu .  That is the beauty of this art.  All of us can become artists. This 15 chukki rangoli can also be drawn for Dasara for gol...
